nbn® for Families FAQs
For a family of 2–3 people with typical usage — streaming, browsing and gaming — our nbn® 100/20 plan is a great fit. Larger households or heavy streamers will benefit from our 250/25 or Ultrafast plans, which can comfortably handle multiple 4K streams, gaming, and video calls simultaneously.
All of our nbn® plans support unlimited connected devices. The key factor is bandwidth — the more devices actively streaming or downloading at once, the more speed you need. Our higher-tier plans are designed so every device in the house can run at full speed without fighting for bandwidth.
4K streaming requires approximately 25 Mbps per stream. Our 100/20 plan and above can handle multiple simultaneous 4K streams. If you have several family members watching different shows in 4K at the same time, our 250/25 plan is the sweet spot.
Online gaming actually uses relatively little bandwidth — usually under 5 Mbps. The bigger concern is latency. Our nbn® plans deliver low-latency connections, so gaming won't noticeably impact other people streaming or working from home on the same connection.
